AIS SIGs: SIGSEC (Security)

Welcome to the Special Interest Group on Information Security and Privacy (SIGSEC).  

AIS SIGSEC provides networking opportunities for people who conduct research, develop and/or teach about information security, assurance, digital forensics, privacy, and information system risk management and auditing.   SIGSEC members discuss issues related to the theory, practice, methods, and applications of technologies to better understand and promote sound information security activities by individuals and organizations alike.


Workshop on Information Security and Privacy (WISP) 2016:

The AIS Special Interest Group on Information Security and Privacy (SIGSEC) is pleased to announce its seventh annual Workshop on Information Security and Privacy (WISP) to be held pre-ICIS on December 10, in Dublin, Ireland. This workshop is intended to be a forum for scholars, practitioners, and doctoral students interested in information security and privacy to exchange ideas and encourage collaboration among the members of the SIGSEC community and others. We invite individuals to submit research articles, case studies, position papers, research-in-progress, and panel discussion proposals that address all interesting aspects of information security, assurance and privacy. All submitted papers undergo a double blind peer-review process. Selected papers will be fast tracked to the Journal of Information System Security.

    The 2016 AIS’s SIGSEC Doctoral Student Award
    (http://aisnet.org/group/SIGSEC)

    The Special Interest Group on Information Security and Privacy (SIGSEC) of the Association of Information Systems (AIS) is proud to offer three $1000.00 travel awards to the 7th Annual Workshop on Information Security and Privacy (WISP) to be held as a pre-ICIS event on December 10, 2016 in Dublin, Ireland to doctoral students who gets their quality papers accepted to the event. Doctoral student submissions to WISP will be reviewed in the usual manner as all other papers.  A special committee has been established to select the top three doctoral student papers and issue the award. The WISP registration fee will also be waived for the three winners of the award. Interested doctoral students should submit their papers by September 28, 2016, the WISP submission deadline (See additional information via: https://www.oru.se/wisp2016). An accepted paper to WISP2016 and attendance at the workshop are required in order to receive the award. Only one student per academic institution may receive the award. Applicants must be active doctoral students at the time of paper submission. A letter of recommendation is required from the advisor of each applicant to be considered for the award. Letters should be submitted to Professor Bonnie Anderson <bonnie_anderson@byu.edu>, please ensure to include “WISP2016 - Letter of recommendation for SIGSEC Doctoral Student Award” in the subject of the e-mail to be considered!

    SIGSEC Leadership is happy to announce the winners of the SIGSEC 2016 Doctoral Student Award for WISP 2016:

    - Tobias Dehling — University of Kassel, Germany
    - Tian Jian (TJ) Zhang — Oklahoma State University, USA
    - Michele Maasberg — University of Texas at San Antonio, USA

     

    The three winners will receive $1,000 each, complimentary WISP registration (only! Not ICIS), and an official AIS certificate. Must attend WISP 2016 and present their research to receive the award.
