In an effort to make it easier for you to know where to find a home for your research, the editor-in-chiefs (EICs) of the seven AIS journals  (i.e., Journal of the AIS, Communications of the AIS, AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interactions, AIS Transactions on Replication Research, Pacific Asia Journal of the AIS, RELCASI, and Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems)  have prepared a joint editorial statement that will be published in volume 18, issue 9 of JAIS and volume 41 of CAIS on September 29.  In the editorial EICs provide you with a statement about the journal’s mission as well as its editorial structure/philosophy or publication and review process.  In order to make the review process more transparent, the EICs have provided the typical acceptance rates, average decision turnaround times, and average number of rounds to reach the final decisions on papers submitted to their journals.

The editorial also describes values shared by all journals in the AIS family of journals.  Importantly, all journals have put into place a developmental review process.  In the editorial, the EICs make explicit the steps that they have taken at their journal to provide you with constructive reviews for the papers you submit to their journals.

Another shared value is the support for replication research, which is viewed as a way of moving the science of information systems forward.  The AIS Journal family also supports open science through open materials and open data. Further, journals in the AIS family welcome papers that have been published at AIS conferences.  Though no change in the conference paper is required prior to its submission to an AIS journal, please remember that journals tend to expect a more substantial contribution than is expected of most conference papers.

Please consider journals in the AIS family as a home for your research! You won’t be sorry that you did.
