The Association for Information Systems today announced Robina Wahid will assume the position of Conference Director, planning and executing both the Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) and the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS).
Wahid succeeds Lise Fitzpatrick, who served as AIS Conference Director for 10 years, before she left staff in January 2017.
Wahid’s primary functions will focus on the day-to-day conference planning and on-site execution of AMCIS and ICIS. She will work closely with all conference chairs and volunteers to ensure smooth and successful conferences are accomplished.
Wahid brings more than 15 years of meeting planning to the association where she has overseen logistics for corporate meetings and events and is responsible for all aspects of event production. She focuses on overseeing important details essential to successful events.
“I’m very excited to take on this role with AIS,” said Robina Wahid, AIS Conference Director. “ICIS and AMCIS have grown exponentially in the past few years and are premiere conferences in the field of information systems. We hope to build on that tradition of excellence to move these and all AIS conferences forward.”
Joining Wahid, will be a team of professionals to the conference management side of AIS, including Kowana Ragland, Account Executive, Alex Murphy, Senior Director of Site Management, and Tyrell Syms, Registrar.
“We are very indebted to Lise Fitzpatrick for her years of service to the association and we are excited for this new chapter of conference management to begin,” said Jason Thatcher, AIS President. “Robina has jumped into her role already, meeting with volunteers, connecting with vendors, and attending staff meetings, and we expect her rich experience to be a great asset to the organization.”
